Seat Belts & Child Safety

The simplest way to save lives. Proper restraints will protect everyone from infants to adults in every vehicle, on every journey. It's the law, and it works.

Seat Belts

Seat Belts: Your First Line of Defence (For Adults & Older Children)

Seat belts are essential safety devices designed to protect adults and older children who have outgrown child restraints. They keep passengers securely in their seats during sudden stops or collisions, reducing the risk of ejection and serious injury.

By distributing crash forces across the chest, pelvis, and shoulders, seat belts minimize harm to vital organs and the spine. Wearing a seat belt greatly increases the chances of surviving an accident and remains one of the simplest ways to save lives.

About Us

Why Seat Belts are Critical

Seat belts save lives by keeping you secure, managing crash forces, and protecting your body from serious injury. Always buckle up—your safety depends on it.

Prevent Ejection
Prevent Ejection

Being thrown from a vehicle dramatically increases the chance of death or severe injury. Seat belts keep you securely inside the vehicle.

Manage Crash Forces
Manage Crash Forces

They spread the immense forces of a crash across the stronger parts of your body (pelvis and chest/shoulder).

Proven Life-Savers
Proven Life-Savers

Global studies confirm their impact - wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of fatal injury by 45%, and the risk of serious injury by 50% (NHTSA data).

Protect Internal Organs
Protect Internal Organs

By restraining you, they help prevent forceful impact against the vehicle’s interior.

Work with Airbags
Work with Airbags

Airbags are designed to work with seat belts, not replace them. Without a seat belt, the force of a deploying airbag can cause serious injury.

How to Wear a Seat Belt Correctly

Wearing your seat belt properly maximizes protection. Ensure it fits snugly, sits in the right position, and is used by one person at a time even during pregnancy for optimal safety.

Lap Belt

Lap Belt

Position the lap belt low and snug across your upper thighs and pelvis, not across your stomach. This ensures maximum protection for the lower body in a crash.

Shoulder Belt

Shoulder Belt

The shoulder belt should lie across the centre of your shoulder and chest, not cutting into your neck or slipping off. Never place it behind your back or under your arm, as it reduces protection.

Check Fit

Check Fit

Make sure the belt is snug with no slack and not twisted. A proper fit keeps you secure and helps distribute crash forces safely.

One Person Per Belt

One Person Per Belt

Seat belts are for one person only. Sharing a belt reduces safety and prevents it from working effectively.

Pregnant Women

Pregnant Women

Wear both lap and shoulder belts. Lap belt goes under the abdomen, low across the hips/upper thighs, and shoulder belt between the breasts and off to the side of the belly for comfort and safety.

Malaysian Law

Malaysian Law on Seat Belts

In Malaysia, it is mandatory for both drivers and all passengers whether in the front or rear seats to wear seat belts. This requirement is enforced under the Motor Vehicles (Seat Belts) Rules 1978, with amendments that made rear seat belts compulsory from 1 January 2009.

Failure to comply with the law can result in fines and demerit points. Exemptions are rare and only apply in very specific circumstances. Wearing a seat belt significantly increases safety and reduces the risk of serious injury in the event of a crash.

About Us

Common Myths & Dangerous Practices Debunked

Don’t be fooled by myths. Buckle up every time, wear the seat belt correctly, and never use shortcuts since your safety depends on it

I’m only going a short distance

Most crashes actually happen close to home, often at low speeds. Even short trips can be dangerous, and injuries can occur in seconds. Always buckle up, no matter how short the journey.

I’m a good driver

Most crashes happen close to home at lower speeds. Buckle up every time

Seat belts are uncomfortable

An improperly worn belt is unsafe. A correctly worn belt is essential protection. Adjust the seat or belt height (if possible) for comfort.

Dummy Buckles are Deadly

Using ‘dummy buckles’ or clips to silence seat belt reminder alarms is illegal and extremely dangerous. It provides NO protection, completely defeats the safety system, and cultivates a dangerous disregard for safety.
